Step-by-step instructions for the toast loaf
Step 1 Add the water, white granulated sugar and dry yeast into your mixing bowl. Stir with a fork or a whisk. Let it sit for 15 mins to activate the yeast.
Step 2 Sift the all-purpose flour into the mixing bowl, then add the salt.
Step 3 Knead the dough for 9 mins, either by hand or with your kitchen mixer for 2 mins on medium and 7 mins on high. The dough should easily come off the side of the bowl or off your hands once done.
Step 4 Cover the mixing bowl with a plate, and let the dough rise in the bowl for 1 hour at room temperature.
Step 5 Spray your toast loaf pan and its lid with the nonstick cooking spray.
Step 6 Remove the dough from your mixing bowl, and flatten the dough into a rectangle so that the shorter side of it has the width of your toast loaf pan.
Step 7 Roll the dough away from you towards the toast loaf pan.
Step 8 Place the rolled dough into the nonstick spray coated toast loaf pan.
Step 9 Shove the lid onto your toast loaf pan and let the dough rise in the pan for 45 mins at room temperature. In the meantime, preheat your oven to 205°C / 400°F.
Step 10 Bake the toast in your oven for 50 mins with the pan's lid on and for 10 mins with the pan's lid off. Place the rolled dough into the nonstick spray coated toast loaf pan.
Step 11 Remove the toast loaf pan from the hot oven wearing oven gloves, given how hot the pan is.
Step 12 Turn the pan over onto a wire cooling rack and allow the toast loaf to cool for 15 mins.
